The history of crayfish in the Iberian Peninsula

The seminar will describe the historical motivations, actions and decisions that led to the introduction of different crayfish species to Spain, and facilitated their expansion across the Iberian Peninsula. It will focus mainly on the arrivals of the Italian crayfish (Austropotamobius fulcisianus) in the 1580s and the red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) in the 1970s.
