O workshop “Soil Health Solutions and Monitoring: the bio(technological) contributions” integrado na Unidade Curricular “ Ciências do Solo e Novas Tecnologias” do Mestrado em Avaliação e Remediação de Solos, conta com a participação de investigadores nacionais e Europeus que têm trabalhado na área de desenvolvimento de novas ferramentas para promover e monitorizar a saúde do solo. Aguarda-se em 2025 a aprovação da nova Diretiva de Monitorização e Resiliência dos Solos, pelo que é da máxima importância Portugal e a Europa se preparem para a sua aplicação, de forma a atingirmos o objetivo Europeu de alcançarmos a plena saúde do solo em 2050.
Os investigadores envolvidos são também membros de projetos europeus de grande dimensão como o Projeto PHENET – Tools and methods for extended plant PHENotyping and EnviroTyping services of European Research Infrastructures (https://www.phenet.eu/en) e o projeto LIVINGSOILL (https://livingsoill.eu) , nos quais a UPorto, a Faculdade de Ciências (DBIO e DGAOT), O GreenUPorto – Centro de Investigação em Produção Agroalimentar Sustentável (https://www.fc.up.pt/GreenUPorto/pt/) são também parceiros. Estes projetos visam diferentes o desenvolvimento de ferramentas e de sistemas de monitorização da saúde do solo a serem aplicados em diferentes agro(ecossistemas).

The workshop “Soil Health Solutions and Monitoring: the bio(technological) contributions” integrated in the Curricular Unit “Soil Sciences and New Technologies” of the Master in Soil Assessment and Remediation, has the participation of national and European researchers who have been working in developing new tools to promote and monitor soil health. The approval of the new Soil Monitoring and Resilience Directive is expected in 2025, so it is of utmost importance that Portugal and Europe are prepared for its implementation, in order to attain the European target of achieving full soil health by 2050.
The researchers involved are also members of large European projects such as the PHENET Project – Tools and methods for extended plant PHENotyping and EnviroTyping services of European Research Infrastructures (https://www.phenet.eu/en) and the LIVINGSOILL project (https://livingsoill.eu), in which UPorto, the Faculty of Sciences (DBIO and DGAOT), GreenUPorto – Research Center for Agro-food Production Sustentável (https://www.fc.up.pt/GreenUPorto/pt/) are also partners. These projects aim to develop different tools and soil health monitoring systems to be applied in different agro(ecosystems).
